5 Things You'll Want to Remember to Add to Your Business Card (But Probably Don't Have There Now!)

Take out your business card. Go ahead, we'll wait.
We're going to try a little exercise. To see if your business card represents you in the best way it possibly can. Do you think your business card is a door opener for you? What might surprise you is the ways your business card could open even more doors for you, if only you would let it! These are a few things that will work for different industries and different types of small businesses. But each will help bring more business and business connections to your door. Best of all, they don't take up a lot of space on your business card, so its not like you have to remove something else to add them to your business card! Take a look at the 5 things that should be on your business card:

LinkedIn URL. Are you on LinkedIn? If not, join now here: www.linkedin.com. You'll connect with hundreds of thousands of business professionals in just about every industry, its an ideal opportunity. Adding your LinkedIn URL to your business card invites new connections to connect with you on LinkedIn, and to mention their own LinkedIn profiles. Its the ideal time to ask them which groups they belong to on LinkedIn and how they like to use LinkedIn for networking, because you might learn something new to help you network even better!
A cell phone number. In today's non stop business environment, people need to get a hold of you instantly. Putting your cell phone number on your business card means you wont miss a call. It also means they have all of your contact information handy, and if you've given them your cell number verbally but they misplaced or forgot it, they can look at the business card to find it again.

A coupon. This is a great "call to action" to add to a small business card, especially if you are looking to grow your business. Try a coupon for a first order, or a coupon for giving a referral for new business. Keep the terms of the coupon simple, try putting the coupon on the back of the business card and show it to them when you give them your business card.

A map. This is another great addition for your business card, especially if your business is somehow harder to find than most, or doesn't come up in GPS or mapping software programs. Put the map on the back of the business card. Another great option would be directions for where to park, something many customers look for when meeting with a small business. Offering this to your customers shows you are considerate and go the extra mile, thinking of their needs.

New products/services. You'll want to update your business card to add this, whenever you add a great new product or service. Remember, each time you hand out your business card its an ideal opportunity to let someone know about that new product or service. And by adding it to your business card, they will take this information with them as they go, reminding them for the next time they want to buy.
Your business card is working for you all the time. Make good use of every inch of space, and add one (or all) of these 5 great things today!
